A bit slow on this post but happy to share the Tycho project finally!
Tycho is an interactive object that mimics the shape and behaviour of the James Webb Space Telescope by capturing light with a sensor and transmitting its colour via LEDs to a mirrored hexagonal surface, where it modulates a projection sequence inspired by images of the birth and death of stars.
The piece is a collaboration between Thomas Heidtmann, Soma Holiday & myself which started in early 2016. The first showing of the work was at Spektrum, Berlin as part of the ‘Activation’ exhibition presented by Lacuna Lab. My contribution to the project was the creation of nebula like animations that interact with the coloured LEDs that are triggered by the viewer interaction.
Documentation of the Tycho installation was Filmed and edited by Peter Kolski
