Abstraxion music video

Music video for Abstraxion’s An Error Occurred

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of working with Abstraxion on his new live show (heading your way in 2017).  I created the visuals for the each track of the live performance including several songs off his new album ‘She Thought She Would Last Forever’.  Along the way we realised I had enough content to for one particular song – An Error Occurred – to edit together a music video to go with its release.  Created with Blender 3D software.

So here it is.

An Error Occurred by Abstraxion, directed and animated by Jem the Misfit

Thank you so much to Loop for having me in this year!

Wonderful to discuss all things visual on the AV interchange panel along with Sougwen Chung and Tarik Barri.  Also amazing to see such diversity across the speakers at this years conference!  Great to be feel part of this community.

Tycho

A bit slow on this post but happy to share the Tycho project finally!

Tycho is an interactive object that mimics the shape and behaviour of the James Webb Space Telescope by capturing light with a sensor and transmitting its colour via LEDs to a mirrored hexagonal surface, where it modulates a projection sequence inspired by images of the birth and death of stars.

The piece is a collaboration between Thomas Heidtmann, Soma Holiday & myself which started in early 2016.  The first showing of the work was at Spektrum, Berlin as part of the ‘Activation’ exhibition presented by Lacuna Lab.  My contribution to the project was the creation of nebula like animations that interact with the coloured LEDs that are triggered by the viewer interaction.

Documentation of the Tycho installation was Filmed and edited by Peter Kolski

New collaboration with Abstraxion on its way!

Abtraxion and Jem the Misfit

I am very excited about the release of Abstraxion‘s upcoming single ‘Spazieren‘ (out 12.09.16 and premiered on Deep House Amsterdam) as it means we are getting closer to the release of his upcoming album ‘She Thought She Would Last Forever’ out in October AND to the tour of a new Abstraxion live AV show!!

After months of production work, Abstraxion and I spent a week working together in a residency at Cabaret Aleatoire in Abstraxion’s hometown, Marseille.  During this week we developed the connections between audio, visual and lighting, refining and rehearsing the show in preparation for the first performance on 3rd June – also at Cabaret Aleatoire – and for the album tour to come later this year.  It was a great experience working so closely with Abstraxion on this project and I can’t wait for the show tour to start!

You can check out the teaser video here and keep a look out for the upcoming album from Abstraxion and tour dates of the AV show in late 2016!
